•       Works on iPhone but there’s limited functionality.

•       Works best on a laptop or tablet.

•       Requires library card number. No need to create an account.

•       Doesn’t require flash.

•       You can use the same library card on multiple devices to use busy things. For example, one child might be on the tablet and the other on a laptop.

•       Requires internet connection.

•       Covers ages 3-11 years.

•       For children from ages 3 – 6 years topics include English, Maths, Art and music; Exploring the world; Computing and Just for Fun.

•       For Children aged 7-11 years, topics include English, maths, Science, Art, Digital tools, Design and technology; food, geography, History, Religion, Family and community; Music and French and Spanish.

•       You can also choose activities from the Latest Release and top 40 activities features.

•       There’s a Busy box feature that tracks the progress of students using Busy Things according to Library service. Tap or click on the Busy Box on the right hand side panel in each age category to do the activities and earn stars for the library!

•       It’s best to use Busy Things through our Library Website. There are some Busy Things apps, but they require payment in the app.

Indy Reads

•       Need to log in to access the content.

•       Select Sutherland Library from the dropdown menu. You will then be asked for your Sutherland Shire Library card number.

•       Search for content via the Children and Young Adult display container on the home page or by the search function.

•       Has a limited range of Children’s content.

•       Has a good range of Young Adult content such as The Rangers Apprentice and Tomorrow When the War Began. 

World Book Early Learning

•       Provides games, educational videos, stories that can be read to you or read by you and your child and fun activities.

•       You just need your library card to access.

•       Not available as an app, but can be accessed through the Library’s website on any device.

•       Some activities require a strong internet connection.

•       Some of the games will not work with iPhones and iPads.

•       Works best on laptops and PC’s.

•       You can search for articles, images, videos, dictionary, EBSCO journals and quality websites.

•       Once in an article, at any level, you can nominate to have it read aloud, you can make it a favourite, email it to yourself, print, translate, increase or decrease font size and get the citation.
