Kirrawee Brick Pit Proposal for public comment

Council has erected display boards at Sutherland Library to alert patrons to a proposal for the development of the Kirrawee Brick Pit site. From Council's website:
"The Council has been informed that the Department of Planning has received a proposal for the development of the Kirrawee Brick Pit site. Due to the size and value of the proposal it will be determined by the NSW State Government and not the council. The proposal is significantly bigger than what was submitted to the council and later rejected by the Land and Environment Court. It includes at least 450 residential units - five times the size of Cote d'Azurs at Cronulla - a retail shopping centre that is twice the size of Caringbah Shopping Village and also has other commercial and showroom uses.
The developer has prepared an environmental assessment which is currently on exhibition until 11 February 2011. The environmental assessment and related documents can viewed via the Planning NSW website.
Anyone interested in making a submission can do so electronically via the Planning NSW website.
Council is currently reviewing the proposal and will separately be making a submission."
The environmental assessment, related documents and a model of the development can also be viewed at Council's Administration building.
