My start as a Reference Trainee!
Sutherland Shire Libraries
Wow! What a difference a couple of weeks can make.
There I was just a few short weeks ago, happily sitting in a giant purple chair, shaking my maracas to the 'Grand Old Duke of York' (Of course, surrounded by 30 Rhymetime toddlers at the time - not simply for my own pleasure!)
Today I am knee-deep in Reference, learning to navigate the maze that is known as DMS, leaving 'computer' breadcrumbs along the way to find my path back out. My head is filled with Reference Resources, Selections and Document Delivery NUC numbers. New, Pending and Returns fill my thoughts.
I am receiving, renewing and returning untold things from faraway places - hoping they all find their destinations (in spite of my best efforts).
I have been 'Databased', 'Webinaired' and 'Micro-fiched' all in my first two weeks.
It seems like months since the 'Grand Old Duke' and I were serenading the Wee ones, but I'm loving every minute (nearly) and I embrace the challenge.
Only 24 weeks to go!!
