Printing
There has been an understanding that there is a printing limit of 50 pages, via the TAC network. However, so far I have been unable to find this in writing anywhere! (but that could be the maze of DMS!)
I have added the following paragraph to the document;

Maximum number of prints is 50 pages. This is to stop businesses using us as their printing option to to keep the printer free for the smaller jobs.
Use your discretion, should a student need to print their assignment and it is over 50 pages, please try and accomodate them. Perhaps check with other customers if they are going to need their printing in a hurry.

Please print this, cut this last line out and stick it to your signs. I don't think it's worth the laminate to reprint these signs from stratch again.

Wireless passwords
There has recently been some discussion about the inconvenience to customers having to wait in line just to ask for a wireless internet password.
After discussion in various quarters, the status quo is to remain the same.

That is: one password per customer, at a time, handed out by staff...not placed openly for self service.

There are various good reasons for this, some of which are:

• Very soon Cronulla and Caringbah will be getting wireless internet. This will be hanging off the same bandwidth as the TAC...therefore wireless connections will be competing with all Branch iPacs, the 10 new public PC's at Cronulla, as well as our own and in the not too distant future the wireless connection at Sutherland (when NSW.net contract runs out) The more people using the connection for longer periods, will slow down the whole network.
• We do not want to be providing people with their only source of internet connectivity, but just provide some convenience for them.
  Suggestions of no passwords would allow use from outside the library building, something not desired.
• The hour limit per password discourages people from downloading large files which would take longer than an hour to download. Thus slowing the system.
• Passwords handed out by staff, ensures many are not taken at once to to be used at a future date, limiting those available now. 200 only can be printed at once, once they are gone another 200 are printed and any not used are wiped. Customers with 'stores' would not be able to connect as their passwords would be defunct, this would cause confusion for staff and customers alike.

Customers wishing to use the convenience of our wireless connection, will need to have the patience to wait for service.
