What's happening


As you all know, Jess is getting married! on the 14th April, 2012 Jess Small will officially become Jess Brain (no hyphenating comments please).

Jess will be honeymooning in Scandanavia for a whole month, then its back to work on May 16th. Congratulations Jess!



April Theme-Feel


The theme for April is Feel. Engadine Library is hosting events in April around this theme. Each Monday of April, customers are being invited to book into 15 minute time slots to try different activities related to the theme of "Feel", with experts from each of the following fields: Palm reading, head and neck massage, kinseology and guided meditation.



Please note, there are no advance bookings, customers must come to Engadine Library on the day to book in.




National year of Reading event


Entries are now open for the Read This! 2012 Creative Reading Prize. This project is a celebration of books for young adults and an opportunity for those aged between 12 and 18 years to share their love of books and reading with their peers in a creative way. Entries close 31st May, 2012. You will receive posters at the branches to help promote this event.



LITL events


Cronulla Library hosted the second Literature in the Library (LITL) event, "Robin Hood in Literature" presented by David Overett. There was a good turn out, with 21 people attending.



The next LITL event will be at Sutherland Library, 24th April at 10.30am. It will feature literary icon Charles Dickens, and is being presented by Susannah Fullerton. The booking sheet for this event will be up on the library website very soon.

6-9th April- Easter. Chocolate, Easter story books, books about rabbits?


7th April- No housework day, and World Health Day.


13th-22nd April- Youth Week.

14th April- International moment of laughter day.
22nd April- Earth Day.


25th April Anzac Day.




Whats on


Author talk -Mark Dapin


Sutherland Library Tuesday, 20th March 6.30pm-7.30pm. Mark Dapin will be talking about his latest fiction novel "Spirit House". Bookings essential. This is a free event.



Literary Trivia night


Caringbah Library, Thursday 29th March, 6.00pm-7.45pm. To celebrate The National Year of Reading theme 'Think, a Literary Trivia night is being held at Caringbah Library on March from 6.00pm. Get a team of up to 6 people together, and test your knowledge of literature. Great prizes to be won. Bookings essential. This is a free event.

Monday, 2nd April 11.00am-1.00pm Rosemary Dawson (Palm Reader) 10min sessions. Monday, 16th April 10.00am-12.00 Deborah Watts (head and neck massage) 15 min sessions. Monday 23 April 11.30-1.30pm Ruth Roman (Kiniseology) 10 min sessions. Monday 30th April 10.30am -1.00pm Peter Thompson (Guided meditation).
Bookings only on day of event. These are free events.



Adult Storytime


Sutherland Library, 4th April, 1.00pm -1.45pm. Held the first Wednesday of each month, come along to hear some adult-themed stories as you eat lunch. No need to book, all welcome.



Heritage week events

Movie night -Reel Teens A murder mystery film night.


Sutherland Library, Friday, 13th April 6.00pm -8.30pm. No Parents. No youngsters. Just teens! Drinks and snacks provided. Bookings are essential, this is a free event.
