This book is a handy resource for anyone wanting to find out concise information about drugs and alcohol. Each chapter is dedicated to a particular drug or alcohol, and the headings included in each chapter really make it very easy to locate the specific information that you require. Examples of the types of information provided about the drugs and alcohol in the book include, how they are used, effects, dependence, tolerance, withdrawal, overdose, and treatment. The book also looks at particular drugs/alcohol in relation to the law, pregnancy and mental health.
As this book is so easy to understand and cuts straight to the chase it could be useful for a range of purposes and people. From school students requiring information for an assignment, to anyone in the wider community that wants to find out accurate information without having to go through an entire book to locate what they need.

Compiled by the staff of the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, this yearbook provides information on the latest advances in Science and Technology. Many of you are probably familiar with this yearbook and the previous editions that we hold, however I thought I would mention the new 2011 edition and highlight some of the topics covered.
The yearbook covers a broad range of areas, chronicling advances in anything from astronomy to zoology. Examples of some of the topics and areas covered in this current edition include,
· Recent advances in understanding various diseases and illnesses such as Type 1 diabetes and celiac disease
· Review of the 2010 Haiti
· Advances in cell biology and genetics
· Developments in high speed rail transportation

Hi Melissa,
'A quick guide to drugs and alcohol' is a great new resource for libraries. It has been written for drug info @ your library by the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC). The guide was commissioned by drug info because there was no easy-to-read, up-to-date book with an Australian focus available.
Each branch has a Ref and lending copy.
