In light of the recent renewal of the year 10 Cronulla Beach
environmental issues project, I thought now might be a good time to tell you about an idea suggested at the EBSCO Marketing training I attended earlier in the year. You can create personal accounts and folders within EBSCO, store relevant items in there and email them to interested students/parents etc. I thought I'd try it with this Cronulla Beach project using our integrated search trial. I've saved some of what I've found in this folder. Check it out and tell me what you think.

This is a great idea. Could we set up a Library account so everyone can access saved searches without having to be invited? Though receiving the email and accepting the invitation to view the saved items, does make one aware of the issue / question and available resources ahead of time!
Great idea Karen. Have you considered how you could publicise this to students and share the folder directly with them?
I think we should defintely set up a Library account. I've emailed EBSCO support to find out if there is any way we can create a link to the folder to post on our website/blog etc (I'm yet to hear back). I just tried to see if the folder URL would work but it is restricted.
Max had a great idea about promoting it in the Library - use a QR code. This is basically a 2 dimensional code that can be read by smartphones etc. The idea would be to create the code to stick on the Cronulla Beach project shelf in the Local Studies section. If someone scans the code with their phone, it would take them to the folder URL (if possible). We could do this with a lot of school assignments. If I can't get a link direct to the folder, then we might have to promote it the old fashioned way - word of mouth, blogging etc. I will keep brainstorming and if anyone has any other ideas I'd be happy to hear them.
